Pop star Mika confirms he's gay

Sorry, ladies. British singer-songwriter Mika, whose sexuality has been subject to much speculation and ambiguity, has officially coming out as gay. (Well, at least women can still aspire to be his BFF.)

The 28-year-old pop star previously stated in a 2009 interview with the Dutch magazine Gay and Night that he could be considered a bisexual.

"I've never ever labelled myself," he told the publication. "But having said that, I've never limited my life. I've never limited who I sleep with... Call me whatever you want. Call me bisexual, if you need a term for me."

He later claimed he was disappointed with the article.

In a 2010 article in the Evening Standard, writer Hermione Eyre had wondered if "his studiedly ambiguous sexuality is also a clever PR choice" and if he was "simply being careful not to alienate his teenage girl fan base, in the tradition of our finest boyband members?" However, after interviewing Mika, Eyre concluded he was "genuinely confused".

Mika told Eyre he was non-discriminatory when it comes to matters of the heart.

"I consider myself label-less because I could fall in love with anybody —literally—any type, any body. I'm not picky.'"

However, it looks like "Grace Kelly" singer has in fact narrowed down his tastes to the male side of the fence. And started using labels.

In a forthcoming interview in the September issue of the gay magazine Instinct, he no longer uses the term "bisexual".

"If you ask me am I gay, I say yeah. Are these songs about my relationship with a man? I say yeah. And it's only through my music that I've found the strength to come to terms with my sexuality beyond the context of just my lyrics. This is my real life."

His third album The Origin of Love, which will includes songs about same-sex love, is slated to be released in September. The first single from the album, "Celebrate", was released on June 15.

Mika's album happens to follow the release of Frank Ocean's debut album, which includes songs about loving another man. Ocean grabbed headlines when he wrote on his Tumblr page about his experience of falling in love with a man. (Ocean did not identify himself as gay or bisexual.)

In other news, Kanye West has confirmed that he's black. Also, the pope claims to be Catholic, but that's still under investigation.

For the record, I never even considered being in a relationship with MIKA. He is what he is most comfortable being. However, I am unabashedly in love with his music!
