Black Mountain at the Waldorf Hotel
Well, that’s it, folks: summer is all but over. Oh, sure, the season technically continues for another month or so, but once September hits, it really starts to feel autumnal. If you’re the type who finds grey skies and cold rain monumentally depressing, prepare to have someone hide the OxyContin and razor blades, because that’s what you’ll be getting for the next nine months. The forecast for the next couple of weeks has one bright spot, however: it calls for nothing but sunshine on Saturday (August 25). Let’s hope that turns out to be the case, because that’s when Black Mountain, Vancouver’s very own heavy-psych-rock colossus, will be headlining an outdoor concert at the Waldorf’s “summer stage”, along with guests Ladyhawk, Basketball, Quest for Fire, and Von Bingen. Things get rolling at around 5 p.m., when the sun will, in theory, still be blazing. Enjoy it while you can, friends, because it’s supposed to piss rain the next day. And the day after that. And the day after that. Sigh.
