BC Housing steps forward with funds for the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre

BC Housing has stepped forwared with funding for another six months of fuding for an emergency shelter at the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.

Earlier this week, Harsha Walia, coordinator of Power of Women to Women Project, issued a call for activists to support the emergency shelter, which houses an average of 50 women per night.

BC Housing, a provincial Crown corporation, had been providing funding, which was set to expire on March 31.

Walia issued a news release on March 22 announcing that BC Housing has extended funding. She thanked BC Housing and all those who responded to the earlier call for support.
