Band Fight puts Vancouver's musicians in the ring

There are a lot of band competitions in Vancouver these days, but Band Fight has a weight advantage over most of them. Organized by AMP Records and the Donnelly Group—with a little help from 99.3 the Fox—Band Fight aims to get 12 of the city’s finest in the ring, literally.

Every Wednesday from November 7, contestants will actually enter a boxing ring set up at Library Square Pub, while ring-card girls announce each band and a nasal MC in a tux rounds out the effect. And for the winner? A professionally recorded song plus $12,000 worth of radio promotion awaits the outfit on the right side of a TKO. All of it, hopefully, will see no actual punches thrown. Band Fight is taking submissions until October 14 at the Amp Records Co website.
