BoltBus from Vancouver to Seattle now stops in Bellingham—but not at Bellingham Airport

The BoltBus, which launched service from Vancouver to Seattle and Portland last May with fares as cheap as $1, has added a new destination: Bellingham.

Since October 4, the city is a new stop along the same scheduled routes that run between Vancouver and Seattle. (Previously, these buses only stopped at the border.) According to BoltBus spokesperson Timothy Stokes, the bus stops for about 10 minutes to pick up and drop off passengers at the Whatcom Transportation Authority’s Cordata Station at 4170 Cordata Parkway.

There are four daily round-trips in each direction, with additional service on weekends. Fares fluctuate according to demand and how far in advance you buy your ticket. On a random, one-way search for fares on Saturday, November 3 (nine days from today’s date), Vancouver-Bellingham tickets ranged from $4 to $6 for the two-hour trip.

Bellingham’s Cordata Station is about 1.5 kilometres north of Bellis Fair Mall. I called the Whatcom Transportation Authority’s info line at 1-360-676-6843 and was told that the mall is within walking distance from the station. There are also numerous public buses—numbers 331, 232, and 15--that run into downtown Bellingham.

However, according to the WTA info line, there is no public bus that runs from Cordata Station to Bellingham International Airport. The airport is located about 5 kilometres away at 4255 Mitchell Way and may be reached by taxi cab. A dispatcher at Yellow Cab (360-733-8294 or 1-877-766-8294), which runs 24 hours in Bellingham, told me the trip would cost about $13 and would take about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, if you want to get from Vancouver to Bellingham International Airport by bus, Quick Shuttle offers five buses daily with multiple pick-ups in Vancouver/Richmond/Surrey and then on to Bellingham Airport. According the website’s winter schedule, the trip takes about 2 hours 15 minutes one way from downtown Vancouver to Bellingham Airport. It costs $28 per adult, or $49 roundtrip ($39 with a 24-hour advance reservation).

Sucks that it doesn't go to Bellingham Station: it would be a short transfer to Bellis Fair, or the 50 Gooseberry (plus the free airport shuttle) to the airport.

stupid Bolt.... "no stop at Bellingham airport" means that 90% customers would stay with Quick coach shuttle bus.

Do you have a bus that goes from Vancouver to Portland, Oregon? If so, what are the fares for that trip (round trip)? Thank you
