Delta councillor Sylvia Bishop wants to represent the B.C. NDP in Delta North in the May 2013 provincial election.

Bishop declared today (October 31) that she will seek the party’s nomination following an earlier announcement by incumbent New Democrat MLA Guy Genter that he is retiring.

“With Guy retiring from politics, North Delta residents need a strong and effective voice to take his place,” Bishop said in a media release. “I’ve been talking to a lot of people who believe I would be an effective representative for the community and they’ve asked me to step up and run for MLA.”

Bishop is on her first term as a Delta councillor.
