David Javerbaum at the Jewish Community Centre

It takes an experienced satirist to point barbs at the work of the Almighty Himself, what with the risk of an old-fashioned smiting or blighting in return. David Javerbaum happens to be just such a satirist. Having packed his CV with a formidable career in wit (contributor to the Onion, staff writer for the Late Show With David Letterman, head writer and executive producer of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart), the New Jersey native turned his skills to writing his 2011 book, The Last Testament: A Memoir by God, which has the Big Man offering His caustic take on everything from sex to Obama. Javerbaum will discuss this divine piece of comedy when he appears at a special Sunday (November 4) event at 2 p.m. at the Jewish Community Centre (950 West 41st Avenue), as part of the runup to the annual Jewish Book Festival.
