Your horoscope for November 8 to 14, 2012

Mercury began retrograde on November 6, but the quick one has tricked us by wreaking havoc prematurely. He’s not the only one responsible for the stellar ruckus, though. Mars in Sagittarius has been on an escalation crusade since superstorm Sandy and the B.C. earthquake and will continue to be a renegade influence through the first week of December.

Neptune ends retrograde late Saturday night, adding to the building intensity of Tuesday’s solar eclipse in Scorpio, which occurs at 2:08 p.m. PST. This eclipse is a super new moon, which means it has a greater pull on the Earth—on emotional and life tides. Its path traverses northern Australia, the South Pacific, New Zealand, and parts of Chile. These are known earthquake regions.

A solar eclipse in exposing and penetrating Scorpio is potent enough, but this one raises the bar. Noting an opposition to Sedna, the Arctic seas goddess, watch for a thaw, a freeze, or all hell to break loose. Adding the unforeseen element, Mercury retrograde squares Neptune (4:02 p.m.) for a second time. The first alignment occurred as heavy rains and Sandy pummelled the east coast. Just before Tuesday at midnight, Mercury backtracks into Scorpio. Also on a mobilizing mission, Chiron, the healing crisis planet, completes retrograde on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s auspicious eclipse also coincides with the first day of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and the start of the financial year in India.
