Vancouver Film School's Game Design Expo returns for seventh year in January

Vancouver Film School will host its seventh annual Game Design Expo on January 19 and 20, 2013.

Ticket sales opened this week for the event's Industry Speaker Day, which takes place on January 19 at the Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour Street). Admission costs $125.

On January 20, the VFS one-year game-design program will hold a open house at its campus (88 East Pender Street). Admission is free but registration is required.

The Industry Speaker Day will feature seven presenters, including Chris Haluke, lead designer at 343 Industries, the Microsoft game studio responsible for Halo 4. Ubisoft Montreal designer Patrick Plourde will be another speaker.

Haluke and Plourde are slated to discuss the future of video games, and the prospects for AAA games as social, mobile, and free-to-play games explode in the marketplace.
