Those interested in Israeli cuisine have an opportunity next Sunday (November 25) to learn more about its history and diversity from Israel’s answer to Jamie Oliver. Television chef and cookbook writer Gil Hovav will be in town for the Jewish Book Festival and will speak at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (950 West 41st Avenue). His new book, Confessions of a Kitchen Rebbetzin—a rebbetzin is the wife of a rabbi—has just been published in English, and the audience will be able to sample some of his recipes at the reception afterward. For tickets ($18 plus service charge), see the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver website or call 604-257-5111.
