      The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and Asian Canadian Special Events Association present King Lear at the Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts (777 Homer Street) on February 1 and 2, 2013 at 8 p.m.

      Taiwan’s Contemporary Legend Theatre blends East and West theatrical forms in their performance of Shakespeare’s beloved tragedy. Director and performer Wu Hsing-kuo blends Peking Opera techniques with Elizabethan theatre for a truly unique play, backed by an instrumental ensemble that fuses traditional and contemporary Chinese music.

      King Lear is performed in Mandarin with English subtitles. This production is produced by Lin Hsiu-wei, with set design by Chang Wang, lighting by Tommy Wong and Wong Choo-yean, costumes by Tim Yip, music and vocal composition by Lee Men and Lee Yi-chin, music arrangement by Li Han-chiang, and calligraphy by Chang Wang.
