This just in: An evening of free experimental films at Cineworks (and also Animatron 2007)
Unfortunately, this information came in a bit too late for our Time Out listings or our movie section. But who doesn't love free films?
Especially experimental ones that make you scratch your head and go "Gadzooks!" or something along those lines.
So cinematic avant garde enthusiasts, here is info on an event you won't want to miss:
THE LATE NIGHT FILM EMPORIUM VWhen: Friday, June 8th @ 9:00 p.m.Where: Cineworks Studio (1131 Howe St, Back Lane Entrance)Cineworks brings you another installment of the ever-popular Late Night Film Emporium. LNFE is a continuing series of informal screenings for both the public and the filmmakers themselves which serves as an essential outlet for experimental exhibition in Vancouver. Working cooperatively with Cineworks Independent Filmmakers Society, these screenings provide the unique and important benefit of open discussion and direct interaction between both the public and artists on hand. ANIMATRON 2007- Video Show at Little Mountain Studios(195 EAST 26th Avenue at Main)
Opens next Friday, JUNE 15th, 8pm till late (runs until July 1 2007)
A blast of icy cool pixels and lines on a hot summer night. Animatron 2007 features 19 Artists, including E*Rock, Ben Jaques, Chad VanGaalen, & Hooliganship.
All short films are collected on a single DVD which will be projected over the course of the evening. The DVD will also be available for sale and rental at the gallery and at your local video store. Some frames and drawings from the artists and musicians featured on the DVD will also be on display. Live performances also on the evening of Friday, the 15th of June.
