When you first type in the URL for a purportedly arty site like Bar Code Art ( www.barcodeart.com/ ), well, you kind of expect it to suck. But this doesn’t. It’s completely concerned with bar codes, of course, whether used to make portraits (some of which are very impressive) or in pieces of software art—like the program that counts through every possible code (it takes about 10 years) and the one that paints pop art–y product images using bar codes as brushes. Bar-code tattoos (temporary) are available, as are paintings and postcards. You can even commission custom images. It’s worth a scan.
