Bumping Into Bono

With the members of U2 in town to rehearse for the band's upcoming tour, it's not surprising that reports of sightings are starting to pop up. So, how did lead singer Bono, Ireland's biggest rock star, spend St. Patrick's Day? Well, perhaps he downed a pint or two of Guinness at the Irish Heather later on, but at one point he was doing a little shopping. "I was on my way to get laser eye surgery," Vancouverite Kima Jones told the Straight. "I was quite afraid, so I decided to run into Toys 'R' Us because I thought it would be a nice, distracting place to be. And I literally ran right into him. I looked up, and he smiled and said, 'Sorry.' I thought it was him, but he was so short. He's literally maybe a couple of inches taller than I am, and I'm only five-three, so I thought 'Maybe that's not him'. But he did have quite the little entourage around him. And so we made our apologies, and as soon as he walked away there was a Toys 'R' Us guy standing there, and I just kind of ran over and said, 'Was that…?' He goes, 'Yeah, Bono.' So I considered that the luck of the Irish that he was giving me for my surgery that day."

What was the singer looking for in the toy store? Jones reports that he was in the games section, so one can only surmise he was looking for something to occupy long, dull nights spent holed up in a Vancouver hotel room.
