MOST RECENT MIX TAPES

"Toma 2: This is new baile funk from Brazil. You can't get this music unless you go to the murderous favelas in Rio. I'm able to make these because I get a steady supply of CDs from some buddies over there."

MOST RECENT PRODUCTION/REMIX/REEDIT/MASHUP

M.I.A. "Bucky Dun Gun (Surf Rock Remix)"

FIRST GIG

"My first actual club night was when I was 17. I got minimum wage and illegal drinks at Cloud 9 in Port Alberni."

CRAZIEST GIG

"It was a lingerie party for this girl's 19th birthday party. All the girls got really drunk and we had makeout competitions where you could win digital cameras and stuff. The birthday girl ended up making out with, like, 10 different guys by the end of the night. I couldn't believe that you could get paid for dancing, drinking, and playing records in your pyjamas all night."

DREAM GIG

"If I could go back in time I'd go to the early to mid-1960s and play doo-wop, soul, and rock 'n' roll 45s to teenage girls in poodle skirts."

WHAT MAKES THE VANCOUVER SCENE SPECIAL?

"There are so many different styles of music to check out in such a small city."
