Jim Green has no comeback plan (yet)

Former mayoral candidate Jim Green has told the Straight that he is not planning a political comeback “at the moment”.

Just over a year ago—in the November 2005 municipal election—the former Coalition of Progressive Electors councillor became the first mayoral candidate to run with Vision Vancouver. The party had just sprouted out of a split with COPE.

In one of the narrowest of mayoral races, Green lost to Mayor Sam Sullivan by fewer than 4,000 votes (57,795 to 61,543). But Green was not warm about a rematch in 2008, despite the fact that Sullivan has faced a challenging first year in office.

“No, I have no plans at the moment,” Green said by phone, before adding, “Nothing yet, but I’d have at least a year to think about it.”

The Straight asked Green if that was the whole story.

“That’s it,” he said. “I’m like really good, fresh Italian food—very simple, very clear, and very flavoured.”
