Power of Radio

To many independent artists, radio seems like a non-issue: no one's going to play your music anyway, so why even bother sending it out to stations? Well, mainstream broadcasters might not be interested, but there's always college stations, on-line radio, and of course the Mother Corp. Representatives from each of these outlets will be taking part in a panel discussion presented by Music BC as part of its career-development series. Titled Accessible Radio: Myths and Realities, the session features a panel comprising Luke Meat of CiTR, Grant Lawrence from CBC Radio 3, Rob Robson of Galaxie, and CFUV's Adam Jones. The four will talk about a range of topics, which will likely include charting in Canada and the U.S., encouraging music directors to spin your CD, and Web-based radio. The discussion will take place on Wednesday (April 6) from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Tom Lee Music Hall, and will cost nonmembers $25.
