Robertus Double Malted Beer

This could come as a surprise, but there's other Dutch beer besides Heineken and Grolsch; now there's also Christoffel Robertus Double Malted Beer, from Limburg, and it's a goodie. Must be the double-malting thing that gives it the extra-sweet, malty taste, but for all the sweetness it remains surprisingly light, clean, and fresh. A most appealing brew, new to me, perhaps to you, too? It comes in a 330-millilitre size, six-percent alcohol, $2.99 for one of those brown bottles with the old hasp-style porcelain closure you flip up and open. The red rubber washer inside must be good for something 'round the house, too…
