St. Peter's Honey Porter

Third of the wonderful brews from this British outfit, St. Peter's Honey Porter ($4.25 for a half-litre; 4.5 percent alcohol) has to be the best to this palate. It's all the same: same distinctive bottle, same generous capacity, same mind-bending taste, huge aromas for the nose, and then an incredible follow-through, all wild honey and a bitter edge. The surprise is the dry finish; the taste is deep and dark but not oily: roasted bitter almonds and dark chocolate. Enjoy it now and serve it with snacks or meals. You'll see it again when it comes time to list the bests of the year.
