Here be dragons/Non plus ultra at Goldcorp Centre for the Arts
It’s not sangria on the Ramblas or a walk along the stone streets of Barri Gòtic, but you can at least get a taste of Barcelona in a new dance work that uses it as a vehicle for cross-Atlantic journeys. Here be dragons/Non plus ultra is a new work by choreographer Henry Daniel that’s inspired by several residencies he had in the famed Spanish city. Set to music by Owen Underhill and working from the historic events of 1492, it features dancers, musicians, and media artists from Barcelona and Vancouver. The show is commissioned and coproduced by SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs as part of the SFU Contemporary Arts Faculty Series at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre, at SFU Woodward’s in the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts from Thursday to Saturday (January 10 to 12).
