American Landscape at Smash Gallery

Seattle painter Kellie Talbot has a great eye for the neon signs, grain elevators, and architectural details of the urban-industrial U.S. Her new solo show at the Smash Gallery (580 Clark Drive), called American Landscape, should appeal to anyone with a taste for old cityscapes. Look for the almost photographic detail of rust streaking down from a motel sign or circling the bottoms of stacked oil barrels. And see if you recognize any classic signs from your trips to the Emerald City (hello, historic Virginia Inn) or just the Downtown Eastside (see Only Seafood, above).
