Think hip-hop-ballet with a conscience: Montreal-based RUBBERBANDance Group’s latest work, Gravity of Center, melds the troupe’s signature high-energy urban style with messages about global warming and the economic crisis. L.A.–born choreographer Victor Quijada explores the idea of a nomadic tribe faced with a scarcity of shelter, water, oil, and food, and the choice of staying in the community or going it alone. The show explodes on-stage at the Cultch from Tuesday to next Saturday (February 19 to 23).
