If at All at the Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre

Israel’s Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company wowed audiences at the Chutzpah Festival in 2011 with the startling, full-body movement of Ekodoom. This week, the company is back at the Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre with the North American premiere of If at All. In it, choreographer Rami Be’er uses recurring, moving circles to explore political struggle and human indifference. As an added treat, fast-rising Israeli-American Barak Marshall is on the program, with Zion. Last year, his Monger was one of the highlights of the fest, and he just saw his surreal, theatrical Harry mounted by BJM at DanceHouse. For Zion, Vancouver’s James Gnam and Rebecca Margolick execute the dazzling duet.
