The Voyage on Granville Island

Want to understand how desperate people are to get into Canada? Check out The Voyage, the second offering in this year’s Micro Performance Series from Boca del Lupo. This 20-minute experience, which sold out when it was first presented in 2012, unfolds inside a shipping container on the old loading ramp at the eastern end of Granville Island. The show, which runs from Wednesday to next Saturday (March 27 to 30), also takes place in the dark, which will no doubt amplify the impact of the sound design by Jean Routier and Carey Dodge. And 20 minutes should give you enough time to consider what the full Pacific crossing must be like for the estimated 600 people per year who are smuggled into the Port of Vancouver inside shipping containers.
