The 19th installment of Brief Encounters brings a new assortment of unexpected pairings: this time up, there’s everything from a lawyer-comedian combo (Danielle Lemon and Wes Borg) to a playwright–taiko drummer partnership (David Bloom and Eileen Kage). Butoh dancer Carolyn Chan (shown here) also mixes it up with performance artist Nita Bowerman. There are other dynamic duos too, all of whom have been working hard to create short pieces for the evening’s tapas-like menu of multidisciplinary delights. It all goes down in the cool, clubby surrounds of Performance Works from Thursday to Saturday (May 9 to 11).
