Fringe Fest 2013: Radio :30 broadcasts voice actor's crisis
In his self-penned script, Radio :30, Chris Earle plays a voice actor named Ron. At the top of his game, Ron is recording a 30-second radio ad, and he is, reliably, delivering The Ron Thing: it’s “like talking to a friend", he explains. “My best friend.” But, trapped in his own manipulative manner, Ron knows that he has become a liar, personally as well as professionally, and he starts to crumble. Earle’s understated script and nuanced delivery work at first. But the writing becomes both repetitive and predictable, and the crisis feels forced.
At the Waterfront Theatre. Remaining performances on September 8 (4:10 p.m.), 9 (8:30 p.m.), 10 (9:10 p.m.), 13 (8:55 p.m.), and 14 (2:10 p.m.).
