Sors at the Scotiabank Dance Centre
France-based choreographer Pedro Pauwels’s work at the Scotiabank Dance Centre promises to cast a spell. His Sors (Get Out ) is inspired by the German expressionist pioneer Mary Wigman’s legendary 1914 piece Witch Dance. In his ode to it, Pauwels has commissioned four contrasting choreographers from around the world to create contemporary visions of sorcerer. With work by Japan’s Carlotta Ikeda, South Africa’s Robyn Orlin, and France’s Josef Nadj and Jérôme Thomas on the program, the one-night-only presentation on Saturday (September 21) is kind of like four shows for the price of one.
