The cross-disciplinary Indian Summer Festival has announced a few of its highlights for the 2015 event, which runs July 9 to 19.

A special event outside of its regular programming is An Evening With Om Puri, at SFU Woodward's in the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts on June 14. The star of both Bollywood and western art-house films (including East Is East and Arohan) will speak about his life and work.

Amjad Ali Khan, Indian master of the sarod--a mesmerizing, lutelike instrument--plays a concert with sons Aman and Ayaan in a show called The Strings That Bind Us on July 15 at the Orpheum Theatre.

Nobel Prize-winning geneticist Dr. Harold Varmus joins the Jacob Varmus Quintet (led by his son) in a unique show called Genes & Jazz. Think talk and music around the ideas of complex organisms, at the Vancouver Playhouse on July 17.

And watch for a curious public-art project in July as award-winning set designer Aradhana Seth (The Darjeeling Limited) brings her fantastical photo booth to Vancouver.
