What are you doing on Tuesday (May 5)? How about May 7, 9, 11, and 13? A five-night commitment is a big deal in this jam-packed chamber-music season, but sitting in on the Borodin Quartet’s performance of Dmitri Shostakovich’s complete string-quartet cycle will repay the investment many times over. That’s 15 scores in total, all of them 20th-century classics, as performed by four of the world’s leading Shostakovich specialists in the acoustically enticing Vancouver Playhouse. It’s hard to go wrong with this Friends of Chamber Music presentation, even if you can’t collect the whole set.
