You’ve heard of West Side Story, but we like the sound of East Side Story—it promises something a whole lot more interesting. It’s the show being staged by Project Limelight Society on Sunday (May 24) at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre at SFU Woodward’s in the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.

For years, the performing-arts charity has been putting on polished productions. The program allows young residents of the Downtown Eastside, Strathcona, and Mount Pleasant the opportunity to be inspired by professional actors, directors, dancers, singers, costume designers, filmmakers, and musicians—and a healthy meal is provided to every child at each workshop and rehearsal.

The show this year has been created by the kids themselves, and is bursting with colourful costumes, music, dance, and fun for the whole family.
