Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre
Pull out your best kilt: the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is going Scottish this week, and straight from the bonnie country itself, violinist Nicola Benedetti is going to help them pull it off. The string star will put her high-energy talents to composer Max Bruch’s often sprightly Scottish Fantasy. Elsewhere on the program, guest conductor Jun Markl Märkl will lead the band in Claude Debussy’s Marche écossaise sur un thème populaire and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Opus 56, “Scottish”. The concert takes place on Saturday and Monday (November 2 and 4) at the Orpheum Theatre.
