Fringe Fest 2015: The risks are slight in Spilling Family Secrets

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Family secrets, and this is all you’ve got?

In her one-woman show, Susan Freedman tells the story of her parents’ long marriage, using the love letters they sent to one another. “It has been perfect, dear, without a single drama or recrimination,” her dad writes to her mom.

And that’s the problem: we see no struggle, so we gain no insight. Freedman contrasts her parents’ success with her own marital mishaps, but she risks few details, so the payoff is tiny.

      At the Havana Theatre on September 15 (8 p.m.), 17 (6 p.m.), 19 (12:45 p.m.), and 20 (2:15 p.m.)
