Ever since the TV special debuted in 1965, the jazzy piano strains of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” have been linked to the holidays. In fact, composer Vince Guaraldi’s music has arguably become as famous as the show itself. Now, thanks to the Vancouver Chamber Choir, you can bask in the nostalgia of Guaraldi’s tunes—live. The ensemble’s show A Charlie Brown Christmas: A Little Jazz and Joy happens Friday night and Sunday afternoon (December 13 and 15) at Ryerson United Church (2205 West 45th Avenue), with Michael Creber on the ivories and Jodi Proznick on bass. On the program is a smattering of Guaraldi favourites along with other carols and classical chestnuts, all linked together by readings from a trio of Pacific Theatre actors. No word whether they’ll be decorating a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
