Medicine to the Firehall Arts Centre

Prepare to have your mind altered: Vancouver Fringe Festival favourite TJ Dawe is bringing back his hit show Medicine to the Firehall Arts Centre from Tuesday (January 14) to January 25. In his monologue, Dawe takes us along on a psychedelic retreat where he confronts his demons, shame, and isolation by taking the Amazonian psychotropic plant medicine ayahuasca. The journey is sometimes dark, often bitingly funny, and ultimately uplifting. When the show hit town last January, our reviewer raved: “Medicine is a deeply honest and generous—not to mention smart and entertaining—piece of theatre.” The remount includes a few appearances by Dr. Gabor Maté, who led Dawe’s retreat, in audience talkbacks after select shows.
