TEDxVancouver's ID: The Exhibition showcases grassroots contemporary art (video)

TEDx Vancouver is just around the corner, and as part of the independently organized event, director and curator of TEDx's Visual Arts crew, Drew Young, has put together an exhibition in support of local artists.

The work in the exhibition focuses on the theme of this year's event: the concept of ID. All but one artist's work was created specifically for the show. Pieces range from paintings to photographs and sculptures to new media, and each explores the idea of identity in a different way. In total, 20 different artists have contributed work to the show. A grant program was set up in conjunction with the event to help bring exposure to three local artists that work in rather unusual mediums.

This short two-day exhibition is being held at the Settlement Building (397 Alexander Street, next to Postmark Brewing) today and tomorrow (November 6 and 7) between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. All work will be available for viewing at Rogers Arena during TEDx Vancouver on November 14 as well.

Watch the two-minute interview with Young below for more information on TEDxVancouver's ID: The Exhibition.
