Start snapping your fingers: the Sharks and the Jets are about to duke it out on-stage again. The Broadway revival of West Side Story is ready to hit the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from Tuesday (February 4) to February 9, and this rendition is probably the closest you’ll come to the one that dazzled audiences in 1957. The original Jerome Robbins choreography has been brought back for this version by Tony Award nominee Joey McKneely, and apparently it’s as great as ever. Variety said, “The true stars of West Side Story are Jerome Robbins’ graceful, endlessly expressive choreography and Leonard Bernstein’s score, which still sounds bracingly modern.” So let’s get ready to rumble.
