Brahms Festival at the Vancouver Playhouse

Neither a madcap prodigy nor a tortured genius, Johannes Brahms doesn’t get the pop-culture props given his peers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. His works are at least as enduring, however, and their taut, purposeful structures will be amply displayed when the Vancouver Recital Society and the Friends of Chamber Music team up to present a Brahms Festival at the Vancouver Playhouse this Wednesday through Friday (March 19 to 21). With performers including the Jerusalem Quartet, pianist Inon Barnatan, clarinetist Sharon Kam, and violist Hsin-Yun Huang, the German master’s scores will be in highly capable hands.
