Your Future Home: Creating the New Vancouver doesn't open until Thursday (January 21), but this afternoon, the Straight got to take a look at what's inside the Museum of Vancouver's latest exhibition.

The museum and the Vancouver Urbanarium Society recruited help from local architects, designers, and urban planning experts to create an exhibition that raises questions about the future of our city.

It covers four of the hottest topics in Vancouver right now: housing affordability, urban density, mobility, and public space.

"People always ask why we are doing this exhibition. Everyone in Vancouver is thinking about affordability right now in particular... housing affordability is not a simple issue," said the museum's director of curatorial and engagement, Gregory Dreicer, at a press briefing today.

"What we're trying to do here is get people, first of all, to rediscover and understand Vancouver better, which I think is critical for anyone who wants to talk about the future. [We want] to give people a glimpse into the variety of solutions that are available," he explained.

Your Future Home will run from January 21 to May 15 at the Museum of Vancouver. A series of debates and happy hour events will happen in conjunction with the exhibition. For more information, visit MOV's website
