The novelty factor here is that in its Friday (May 9) concert, the Vancouver Chamber Choir plans to exploit every angle of Ryerson United Church’s resonant nave—but the real hook is the excellence of the programming. Space Music: Five Centuries of Spatial Song extends from the late-Renaissance glories of Claudio Monteverdi and Andrea Gabrieli to the modern-day conundrums of John Celona and the late Robert Ashley. With Benjamin Britten also among the featured composers, and Jon Washburn conducting, this show should leave listeners’ domes buzzing happily.
