In a deal worth $1 million, the Kay Meek Centre’s main theatre will be named the Grosvenor Theatre, after property development and investment group Grosvenor Americas.

The 10-year partnership will help the West Vancouver performing arts centre establish more community initiatives and youth outreach, as well as support Kay Meek’s programming.

“Grosvenor has contributed to sustainable growth on the North Shore for over a decade and we are excited to see this further enhanced through this 10-year partnership with Kay Meek Centre,” Grosvenor Americas CEO Andrew Bibby said in a news release.

Kay Meek also boasts a smaller studio theatre and several rehearsal spaces. The centre hosts a range of groups and presentations, including dance, music, and theatre at the youth, amateur, and professional levels.

“We are thrilled that Grosvenor shares our commitment to ensuring access to performance excellence for the community,” Paul Tutsch, chair of Kay Meek’s board of directors, said in the release. “Like all arts organizations, we need the support of strong partners to enable us to deliver the quality of entertainment our community wants and needs.”

The new partnership will be celebrated at an unveiling ceremony for the Grosvenor Theatre on June 24.

Gratitude is so fleeting. Kay Meek, longtime French teacher and arts supporter, made this theatre happen. It was named after her. But not for long. Ozymandias, "King of Kings."
