If you’re looking for a chance to check out some of the Lower Mainland’s gems, but you don’t have the money to do so, this weekend, you are in luck.

The seventh annual Doors Open Richmond is offering free tours around countless arts, culture, and heritage sites around the city this weekend (June 7 and 8).

The event invites the public into more than 40 sites around Richmond over the weekend, including new participants Neon Salon, Branscombe House, and the Vancouver International Airport, as well as repeat participants the Richmond Cultural Centre, Terra Nova Rural Park, Richmond Jamea Mosque, and Fabric Arts Studio.

The weekend will start with an opening celebration featuring live jazz and bagpipe music, Morris dancing demonstrations, children’s craft activities, and tours of the London Heritage Farm from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday (June 6). Starting at 6:30 p.m., free buses will shuttle visitors from the former Steveston Secondary School site to the farm.

During the weekend, there will be four bus trips that visit many of the Doors Open sites, exploring nature, faith, family or history for $5 per person. These tours leave at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on both days.
