B.C. Alliance for Arts and Culture’s executive director Rob Gloor has announced he is leaving the organization in mid-June.

After four years at the organization, Gloor has accepted the position of executive director at West Vancouver’s Kay Meek Centre, starting June 21.

“The past four years have seen exciting change and growth for the Alliance, including a massive public consultation on provincial cultural policy which helped us to build a productive and respectful relationship with the BC Government," said Gloor in a press statement about the organization that acts as both an advocacy group and resource facility for more than 400 members across the artistic disciplines. "And we have expanded our services to better serve arts and culture employers through group programs for extended health coverage, general insurance, human resources support, and an RRSP program. Our efforts to build capacity in the sector were possible through the support of a top notch board and staff, for which I am very grateful. They have created momentum that will continue on as the Alliance moves forward under new leadership."

The alliance's board said it will conduct a  national search for his successor, beginning this week.

The Alliance is preparing for a provincial conference called re:generation / BC Cultural Roundtable 2016, which takes place June 9 in New Westminster. The conference focuses on the next generation of leadership in all cultural disciplines and sectors across our province. Gloor's departure date allows him to see the alliance through the conference.

Gloor has served in arts management across the country, including at the Edmonton Symphony, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, and Opera Hamilton.  In Vancouver, he has provided general management services to music organizations and once served as interim managing director at Pacific Cinémathèque.
