O Brasil é lindo maravilhoso! And if you haven’t gotten enough of the culture by being glued to your TV set for World Cup games, you can experience it live in the flesh—along with performances from elsewhere in that wildly colourful part of the world—at Latincouver’s Carnaval del Sol, Saturday and Sunday (July 5 and 6) on Granville Mall.

Along with checking out handmade crafts, food, and footie-related events, you can follow the rhythms to a main stage that offers up folkloric dance and music all day long, courtesy of countries from Mexico to Peru. Brazil is in the spotlight for the final evening, from 5 to 6 p.m., with appearances by Samba Fusion, Brejera Band, and Abalae Capoeira.

If you feel the need to get in on the dance action, head to Robson Square Saturday, where the Viva Plaza venue features Latin-dance teachers and dizzying displays of salsas and merengues. Get down to Granville early: the event, run by 250 volunteers, drew about 100,000 Latin-loving festivalgoers last year.
