Photographer Tod Seelie at Hot Art Wet City

This is a Big Apple you won’t see on your average city tour.

Photographer Tod Seelie’s aptly titled book Bright Nights: Photographs of Another New York is a gritty love letter to an underground scene that never sleeps, complete with multilimbed mosh pits, art-boat floatillas, burning cars, and subterranean art installations. The New York Times has said his photos “elevate mere weirdness to a more striking realm of visual intrigue”.

Find out what all the fuss is about when he visits Hot Art Wet City (2206 Main Street) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (July 22) to talk about his process, photos (including the Bright Nights shot shown here), and scintillatingly skeezy subject matter.
