It’s a growing movement around the world, and it comes to the Scotiabank Dance Centre on Sunday (September 7): DanceAbility Day, put on by the nonprofit Instruments of Change, features a free dance workshop and talk by choreographer and Guggenheim fellow Alito Alessi.

The Eugene, Oregon–based innovator is artistic director of DanceAbility International and specializes in a practice that brings together people from across the full spectrum of abilities. The event also features the Canadian premiere of “United We Dance: American Dance Diplomacy”, a short film about Alessi’s recent trip to Indonesia, Mongolia, and the Philippines as a U.S. State Department arts envoy. There are only 30 spots available, with registration at laura@laurabarron.net.
