Fringe Fest 2014: Industry: The Food Must Go Out a nice, light snack about serving

If this show were a restaurant, I would definitely recommend it as a good place to stop on your journey, but perhaps not one to go a huge distance out of your way for. Writer/performers Pippa Mackie, Lauren Jackson, and Nik Bunting are exploring the working side of restaurants, and they do so inventively. In one of the best bits, Emmelia Gordon embodies Jackson’s hangover and Jackson has to lug her around as she waits on tables and strains to be polite. And we see a 12-step group for actor/servers: “Hello. My name is Pippa and I’m a cliché.” There are a couple of moving anecdotes, too. But I left feeling a tad hungry—for more depth and surprise.
