Fringe Fest 2014: Jacques Lalonde gets personal with Stroke of Luck

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Fringe veteran Jacques Lalonde had a stroke on Canada Day 2013, and he tells the story of his recovery in this openhearted, unpretentious solo show. Lalonde recounts stories of both helpful and harmful physical therapists, and demonstrates some of the tools that helped him regain the function of his right arm. “This is a message play,” he tells us, more than once. Some of the messages: put a positive spin on things, don’t be afraid to ask people for help, buy travel insurance! Lalonde’s exuberance and sheer goodwill make up for what the play lacks in polish and structure. Go early to catch the preshow Brain Dance.

      At Havana on September 9 (9:30 p.m.), 11 (6 p.m.), 13 (6:15 p.m.), and 14 (1 p.m.).
