Kosmic Mambo at Studio 58

We love the elements that are coming together, cosmically it seems, for Studio 58’s latest effort. Big local theatre names David Mackay and Wendy Gorling, no less, will codirect the school’s production of Kosmic Mambo, a nonverbal, physical-theatre, space-age retelling of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner that comes complete with projections. It tells the fictional late-1960s story about the USSR’s failed attempt to send six cosmonauts to Mars. Think music, astronaut suits, and mayhem; no word on the form the famous albatross might take. It hits Studio 58’s home stage at the Langara campus from Thursday (October 2) to October 19.
