The first annual Vancouver Mural Festival may not be taking place until August 20, but the artwork that the event will be celebrating is already well underway.

A total of 39 local and six international artists will be completing murals in the Mount Pleasant area ahead of the festival, and we've got the details on which aritsts will be painting which walls, and where those walls are located.

In addition to the seven murals which have already been painted on the exterior walls of MakerLabs (780 East Cordova Street), 34 murals are being painted at 21 different locations throughout Mount Pleasant and the Downtown Eastside.

The murals at MakerLabs were completed by Graeme McCormack and Alison Woodward, Colin Moore and Tierney Milne, Choplogik and Mandy Tsung, Mark Illing, Frazer AdamsDedos, and Bicicleta Sem Freio. They were made possible by Low Tide Properties. (See below to find out the information on the remaining walls.)

On the day of the festival, Main Street will be closed between East 7th Avenue and East 12th Avenue. Attendees can expect a full day of exhibitions, participatory works, vendors, and live music, with additional markets, art installations and a lounge area for festivalgoers hosted at nearby Thornton Park.
