Follow your ears to the fiddles: Compaigni V’ni Dansi is celebrating the ninth annual Louis Riel Day Celebration on Saturday (November 15) at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre with the new show Sara Riel: The Long Journey. Created by dance artist Robin Poitras and visual artist Edward Poitras, and taking place within a visual installation, it explores the life of Sara Riel, sister to Louis Riel—the leader of the Métis resistance movement. Master jigger Yvonne Chartrand and Madelaine McCallum lead the action, set to the live music of Shaganappi, with Keith Hill on fiddle and Amy Eustergerling on keyboard. Just try to sit still as you watch.
